Systems Engineer

Scholar is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our team. Responsibilities include managing servers, networks, and workstations across on-premises and cloud environments, with strong multiplatform skills. You’ll work on a collaborative Tech team that enables Scholar’s artists and production staff in creating amazing visuals, constantly looking to help improve infrastructure and services, while also providing frontline support.

Job Duties

• Set up, maintain, and manage virtual and on-premises workstations, render farm, laptops, and hardware peripherals.

• Install, configure and upgrade software, servers and network infrastructure.

• Shape Scholar’s IT roadmap in partnership with the Head Of Technology and the rest of the Tech Team.

• Support a wide range of software packages across a mix of operating systems.

• Address the day to day technical needs of production.

• Ensure all issues and solutions are properly documented in the ticketing system and company knowledgebase.

• Investigate and resolve several technical issues at a time, quickly and calmly.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

• Working knowledge of typical VFX applications (Maya, Nuke, Cinema 4D, Houdini, Adobe Creative Cloud, Deadline) and SaaS platforms (Google Workspace, Frame.io)

• Familiarity with Cloud services and providers, particularly AWS.

• Experience working in a mixed environment (Windows, Linux, MacOS).

• Understanding of Active Directory, WDS/MDT, Munki, Mosyle MDM, or similar management softwares.

• Strong grasp of basic principles of networking and systems administration (DNS, DHCP, VLAN, NAS).

• Scripting or programming (Python, Bash, C++, or similar)

• Familiarity with video and broadcast routing, standards, and workflows.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong organization and time management.

• Strong ability to problem solve, multitask, and work as part of a team.

• Expected to work remotely and on-premises with a support schedule that may include after-hours and weekend support.

• Degree/Certification in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical field preferred. Will also consider equivalent experience in a similar role.

This is a full time salaried position with full benefits. Salary range is currently $90K-$120K/year, depending on experience. The position  is hybrid-remote, but candidate must be LA local.
