Facebook News "Your News"

Type:

Recent, Animation

The Facebook brand is one we all know and love, so to be asked to create an adventurous extension of their look for the new Facebook News was an exciting challenge we couldn't pass up. Merging the clean aesthetics of Facebook with the texture and authenticity of print media felt like a match made in heaven. We blended the tactile with the modern to capture the importance of authentic news. We wanted to cut to the chase without the clutter. We believe that news should feel personal, it should feel relevant, and it should evoke an audience's interest and emotion. Creating an entirely new look for Facebook and getting specific and intentional with the images we chose to represent was incredibly powerful.

"This project felt like a unique opportunity to be deliberate and intentional with our photographic choices and design language. We wanted to capture the world as it is, communicate with intention, and represent each topic in the most timeless way possible. The juxtaposition of each photo and element in any given frame was considered, the connotations and content thoughtfully placed. With this consideration, each spot was given its own story while accurately representing the diversity and fluidity of its overarching subject."

PROCESS

"Modularity and templatization were key for this project. We wanted each spot to feel like part of a cohesive whole, yet have its own voice. From the start, we created real scanned paper texture, animated loops, and mattes, and a beautiful file structure that we could plug and play to create over 164 assets with minimal fuss."
